Meeting to discuss power cut postponed twice

The meeting to discuss present loadshedding with Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal has been postponed twice due to his busy schedule.

The meeting was slated for last Friday initially but the prime minister was busy giving a full shape to the government.

“We received information that the PM Khanal was unable to attend the loadshedding meeting,” said a high-level official at the ministry.

The ministry said the agenda for discussion has already been prepared and the Budhigandaki project is the priority.
According to sources at the ministry, it has prepared a five-point formula to ease the loadshedding ordeal.

The previous government had suggested a 38point solution with a timeline, but most of them were not implemented.

In a separate meeting at the parliamentary committee on Natural Resources and Means, chief secretary Madhav Ghimire criticised the slow pace of the Ministry of Energy even as the nation is reeling under the daily 14-hour power cut schedule.

“The energy ministry is failing to meet the expectations of the nation and its citizens,” said the chief secretary.
