NEA hikes PPA rate by 20 per cent
Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has decided to increase the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) rate by 20 per cent for hydel projects of capacity up to 25 megawatts (MW). Power developers had been demanding the increment for a long time. At present, NEA buys electricity at Rs four in the wet season and Rs seven in the dry season from developers below 25 MW but the rate for the projects above 25 MW depends upon the negotiation. After this increment, power developers will receive Rs 4.80 per unit in the wet season and Rs 8.40 in dry season.
